"We will definitely be sending the Soli vid on to the team in Mountain View."
"They look great. I can see the progress! I'm especially impressed by Soli Sign"
-Google Creative Lab
I was one of a collection of UTS VisCom students to work with Google on a special project. The aim was to pick a piece of Google technology from their I/O 2015 conference and direct it towards to a specific use or user group.
I worked with another student Tal Chodos to develop a concept app where the precise gesture recognition of Google's radar chip Soli could be used by deaf people to translate Auslan or other sign languages.
Sign language is the most natural form of communication for most deaf people. The goal was to eliminate the barriers of communication between sign and non signing people to make deaf users feel more comfortable.
